End-of-Semester Reflection
I have learned about many ways to incorporate technology into learning. For example, I have learned that cell phones can serve as an aid in learning, not necessarily a distraction. Technology can also serve as a means of communication with students and parents outside of class. Technology can be a means of class organization (lessons, due dates, etc.). Technology can aid students in learning. For example, there are math games and vocabulary activities students can participate in which will help them learn. My attitude has changed in the sense that I thought technology in education mainly involved using the elmo and perhaps doing a few powerpoints and internet resource here and there. However, I see that there are many uses of technology. From creating music to creating study notes, technology can enhance learning. I just stress that I do not want it to replace the teacher. I know this has been a concern of mine, especially when I read the article about students learning from robots. I think students need a positive authority fugure in their life who will help them recognize their worth as people and push them to do the best and be the best they can be as people. To sum it up, technology can never provide the affirmation and role model a teacher provides, but it can aid in student learning and classroom organization and management.
